“Sometimes I find my Mind”

“Parfois Mes Pensées Vagabondent”

“Sometimes I find my mind” is a mindfulness book written for children that takes us on a journey through a child’s overactive and unruly mind. We then bare witness to the mindfulness tools they use to find a sense of inner calm.

How this book came into being:

Liam Volke from the west coast and Ashley Thackaberry from Ontario are two meditators who were brought together by a mutual friend, fate, and a touch of magic. They collaborated from afar to bring this book into being during the spring of 2020.

Acknowledgments:

Special thanks to Liam Volke for taking on this project and being so very easy to work with from afar. Thank you Elysia Tessler for your intuition and wisdom (in general) and specifically in connecting us together. Thank you to Amelia Meister for your magic-making, your ongoing support and for editing this text. Merci Mélanie Gendron-Daigneault for translating this text. Mélanie, you are proof that deep listening and a healing spirit transcends any and all language barriers. Merci Catherine Poitras for teaching me how to throw many-a-wrench into our current and destructive world order and for editing the French copy of this book. Merci Beaucoup Jessica Roy for the inspiring way you move through this world and for putting all this work together to create the physical copy of this book! I appreciate you all and I am privileged to call you my friends. I also want to thank all of my friends and teachers who have, and continue, to guide me back to myself and towards my mindfulness practice. Finally a BIG thank you to my folks Kathleen and Foster for their unconditional love and support.

I sometimes catch my mind tumbling down an extra-dimensional wormhole! Here’s where it meets grumbling gargoyles and terrible, trumpeting trolls. Honestly, sometimes my mind feels simply out of control.
