What We Do
Our Mindful Awareness Programs:
Our mindful awareness programs are based in experiential learning rather than didactic teaching. We support young people in the process of embodying authentic experiences of mindful awareness through attention training exercises, and investigative reflections. Our programs provide youth with a diverse toolbox of simple and effective self-care tools rooted in mindfulness that help them orient their attention to the present moment. These skills not only build emotional regulation and stress resilience but we believe are fundamental life skill necessary for individual flourishing.
Some examples of the techniques youth will be encouraged to develop include:
- Directing attention to the breath, sounds, sight, body sensations, and to the external environment in order to promote grounding and centering
- Mindfulness of thoughts and emotions. Such as naming strong emotions (Name it to tame it)
- Kindness, caring, and gratitude practices directed towards themselves and others
Course Structure:
- Our youth programs (12-17 yrs.) are presented in a series of 7-10 lessons that are:
- 45 min-1 hour in duration.
- Our sessions for children (4-11 yrs.) are presented in a series of 7-10 lessons that are:
- 45 minutes in duration.
*Minds@Ease encourages children and youth to develop their own daily mindfulness practice through a weekly mindful challenge. Skills are learned over time through sustained practice.
Minds@Ease Chain of Learning Program:
We are excited to expand through our Chain of Learning Program. Wherein we deliver workshops to youth participants that are keen on developing their own teaching skills by imparting mindfulness techniques to young children. Our hope is that through this program we will help share resiliency tools that extend across the community.
